I recently migrated my living room media center to the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV, and I must say that I am in love with this new machine!
I changed the default launcher app to Kodi, and I’ve created menus for everything I need. The console boots directly into Kodi and when I press the home button I return to Kodi from whatever app was open.
This was setup using:

I’ve compiled my own build of Retroarch for Android with the following modifications:
– Cores for Amiga and Amstrad
– Vorbis and compressed media files support in ScummVM
– Fixed Vorbis support in Genesis-Plus-GX core
– Support for CEC remote control (like in the Raspberry PI video)

In the video I go through the same emulators as I did in the Raspberry PI video. Notice that when an emulator is closed you return to the exact spot in the Kodi menu that you were in when you launched a rom.
The C64 emulator is not a libretro core – it is C64.EMU. Finally the last system I felt I was missing in my setup 
Compared to my Raspberry PI mediacenter this setup also has many new benefits, such as:
– Netflix
– High quality Android games
– GRID game streaming service
– 4k video support
– Built in Chromecast
– Screen recording (the video was made using this)
– Generally a much smoother and faster experience
In my experience this is by far the best media center appliance available at the moment.
